I don’t recall the specific issue you raise, but we did remove a lot of unused features like sorting and filtering and faceted search. These types of things were used by less than two percent of members and made things more complex for the other 98%. Our goal was to create an easy to use service that just worked.
I do recall getting rid of the Top 100 listing for streaming movies. We did this because it provided some partners and competitors too much insight. Some customers missed this feature when we took it away. This feature was used by substantially more than 2% of members, but i don’t think anyone misses it today.
